Looking to liven up your video conference calls? Us too. Pretending to be in outer space or on the Golden Gate Bridge during a Zoom meeting gets old pretty fast.
Over at Liftopia HQ, we compiled these gorgeous photos from some of our awesome ski area partners so that you can change the background in the next video call with your quaran-team (yep, we went there). You can bring the ski resorts to your home office or at least bring the proper après vibe to a virtual happy hour.
Read on to learn how to save and add these photos to your Zoom virtual backgrounds. Plus, we offer bonus tips on the right occasion to use each photo.
How to save these photos:
- Click on a photo (which will launch the high-resolution version in a new tab)
- Right-click and select Save Image As.
How to add to Zoom (via Zoom Help Center):
- Go to Zoom Preferences
- Virtual Background
- Next to ‘Choose a virtual background’ click on the +
- Upload one of the below images.
Note: To use a Zoom virtual background without a green screen, your Mac OS version needs to be 10.13 or higher and your processor must be an Intel Core i7 with a quad-core or better.
Arapahoe Basin Ski Area
Little known fact: Arapahoe Basin is home to the famous Bacon Bloody Mary. Next time you ski there, make sure to visit the 6th Alley Bar & Grill for après ski. Everything’s better with bacon, right? (Bonus: A-Basin fans can still buy their merch online!)
When to use it: When you’re craving fresh air and not quite at the point where you can take a break to walk outside. Just look at these trees – you can almost smell the crisp air.
Solitude Mountain Resort
Little known fact: Solitude offers a mix of terrain. Ski Magazine has called Honeycomb Canyon “the crown jewel, a long, beautiful canyon with an intermediate run cut down the middle so it’s accessible to almost everyone.”
When to use it: For longer meetings or a meeting you’re not leading. You might want this as a bright and cheerful backdrop without distracting your quaran-team.
Mammoth Mountain
Little known fact: It’s not uncommon for Mammoth Mountain to still have snow late in spring and even in the summer! In fact, for the 2018-2019 season, Mammoth stayed open for July 4th weekend. (Bonus: Mammoth sells their merch online, so you can still support them from afar!)
When to use it: During a virtual happy hour. Bring the après ski vibe to your home with this festive backdrop. Bonus points if you put on your Liftopia beanie and drink beer out of a plastic solo cup.
Sunday River
Little known fact: One of New England’s largest ski resorts, Sunday River is also known for its reliable skiing and snow conditions: 92% of its terrain has snowmaking.
When to use it: To convey excitement or focus. Those skiers about to plow through that perfectly groomed corduroy illustrate precision and serious stoke.
Squaw Valley / Alpine Meadows
Little known fact: When you buy a ticket for Squaw Valley, you’re actually getting a two-for-one deal. Take the shuttle to Alpine Meadows where you can usually escape the crowds! Your ticket will work at both mountains. (Bonus: Achieve your #squawgoals from afar by buying their branded gear.)
When to use it: When you want to leave your meeting attendees wondering: Is this a photo of you skiing? Do you still have that yellow jacket? You’re sure to give off that air of being an international man or woman of mystery.
Sun Peaks
Little known fact: Sun Peaks is the second largest ski area in Canada. One attraction they’re known for is First Tracks, where you can be the first to enjoy that fresh powder and perfect corduroy.
When to use it: For a neutral mood. This image is well-lit, doesn’t have any distracting elements or too many contrasting colors, and is just pleasant to look at.
Boreal Mountain
Little known fact: Northern California’s Boreal Mountain is conveniently located just off the I-80 and has lots of runs for beginner and intermediate skiers. (But don’t worry, there are advanced runs too!)
When to use it: When you have good or exciting news to share. The snowmaking machine gives a subtle hint that something fun is about to happen.
Grand Targhee
Little known fact: Generally known for being less crowded, Grand Targhee offers stunning view of the Tetons. It is also home to Wyoming’s only cat skiing.
When to use it: Either early morning or late in the afternoon for that sunrise or sunset feel. Maybe you want to convey that your day is just beginning, or that you’re winding down.
